Bringing your team in from athletic.net

Why there is no Import from athletic.net button

athletic.net offers no public way for another service to read a team's data, and its terms of use forbid taking it out by script. A button that did it anyway would be reading your team's pages on your behalf in a way athletic.net has said no to, and could stop working, or get an account suspended, without warning. So StatLap reads what you paste, which is yours to copy, and nothing else.

Route 1: your roster, into Add athletes

1. On athletic.net, open your team's page for this season, the one with the Athletes list.
2. Select the whole page and copy it. On a computer: click on the page, then Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C (Cmd on a Mac). On a phone: press and hold on a name, tap Select All, then Copy.
3. Come back here, tap the box below, and paste.
4. Tap Add these athletes. The Boys and Girls headings on the page decide boy or girl; the initials and the coaches' names are skipped.
5. Read the list it gives back. Anything it could not read is listed by line with the reason, and can be typed in above.

A name with a nickname or an initial pastes as it is. Two athletes with the same name each get a short code, so they stay apart on every page.

Route 2: a heat sheet, into the timing app

1. Open the meet's heat sheet on athletic.net, or wherever your meet director published it, as text on the page, not a picture.
2. Select the event you are about to time, from its heading down through every heat and lane, and copy it.
3. On the timing app, open Heats & lineups and paste it into the box. It reads lines in the shape Heat, Lane, Athlete, Team, Seed, which is how Hy-Tek, MeetPro and athletic.net all print them.
4. Check the lanes on screen. Move anyone by tapping them and then an open lane; an open lane can also bring the closest seed up from a later heat with one tap.
5. Tap Send on the heat about to run. The finish phone shows those names on its lanes.

If a sheet pastes badly, the page says which lines it could not read. Send us a sample and we will make it read that shape too.

Results going the other way

StatLap exports every meet as a MileSplit spreadsheet and as a Hy-Tek results file, from the meet's admin page. Those are the formats the timing and results sites take, so a meet timed on StatLap can be posted where your programme already posts. There is no export to athletic.net itself, for the same reason there is no import.

If your data is somewhere else

A spreadsheet, a group chat, a printed sheet: the roster paste reads all of those, and the heats paste reads most heat sheets. Anything that does not paste cleanly, send to support@statlap.com with a sample and we will add the shape.
