Why do parents keep texting you for times you already posted?
A coach who is the only place results live becomes the relay for every question about them, and that is a structural problem, not a parent one.
It happens after every meet. Results go up somewhere, a spreadsheet, a group chat, a printed sheet on the fence, and within a day the coach's phone has six messages asking what somebody ran. The parents are not being difficult. The results are just genuinely hard to find again.
Where the bottleneck actually sits
If a result exists in exactly one place, and that place is a coach's phone or a folder only the coach opens, then the coach is the only route to it. Every question about a time becomes a question for the coach, not because parents want to bother the coach specifically, but because there is nobody else to ask.
What closes the loop
- A public results page for each athlete, at a stable web address, that holds their personal bests and full history without anybody forwarding anything. An athlete or parent can claim it once a coach confirms it is really them.
- Direct messaging between coach and athlete on statlap.com, so a question about a specific session goes to the person who ran it rather than getting routed through a group chat nobody can search.
- A training log that fills itself from the Workout page on a phone, so 'how did practice go' has an actual answer to point to instead of a memory from three weeks ago.
What it does not fix
A link is not a conversation. Some parents are texting because they genuinely want to talk about their kid's season, and a results page answers a different question than the one they are actually asking. And none of this works if athletes are not signed in and posting: an empty log and an unclaimed profile put the coach right back to relaying results by hand, which is exactly where this started.
The record is only as good as what people actually put into it. Getting a team to sign in and use the log and the profile page takes real nagging for about the first two weeks of a season. After that it mostly runs itself, and the texts asking for last week's time mostly stop.
